    Hi,

I have my multilingual site setup and I’m loving Polylang (Version 1.0.1). But now I’m stuck with NexGen gallery plugin (Version 1.9.12). I haven’t found any tutorials or guides online on how these two plugins cooperate. Could you please give me some guidance.
I have checked under Settings>Languages>Strings translation with no results, hoping it would be that easy. All I want is to have captions in different languages – nothing fancy.

    Regards,
    Rokas

    Hi Chouby,

I’ve seen this before posting, but being new to this sort of thing it’s hard to wrap my head around it.
All i see in Settings>Languages>Strings translation is 4 strings

      Site Title
      Tagline
      Date Format
      Time Format

    Hi,
Finally! I found it! It was in Media Library section.

Edit: I was mistaken, it was just some trash left from previous attempts – it has nothing to do with NexGen Gallery.
I still need to figure out where to find the strings, so i can translate them.

Forget this. I made tests and obviously I misunderstood how Nextgen gallery and WPML interact together. And thus what I proposed does not work.

I will soon come back with a new (integrated) solution so that it works out of the box for every users.

    Hi Chouby,
Thanks for your effort, I really appreciate it.
I was already typing a new message of how it still does not work, but upon refreshing wp-admin for several times – it did work! Great job!

Nextgen gallery adds the caption in the strings translation list table when you save the original caption of the picture. Some other strings are added only when you access them through the frontend. That’s quite a strange way of working but Nextgen Gallery has been written to interact with WPML this way, and in fact Polylang mimics WPML.

    Hi,

I can edit the gallery titles and it works but the gallery descriptions are not saved.

    Exemple :

    gal_1_title Fran?ais : ‘Test titre fran?ais’
    English : ‘Test english title’
    gal_1_description Fran?ais : ‘Test description fran?ais’
    English : ‘Test english description’

And ‘Test english description’ isn’t saved.

I’m using the current dev version.

I remade the test and got no problem. Is it possible that you have the same string ‘Test description fran?ais’ two times? In that case, only one “translation” is saved. So if you try to translate the first one and you keep the second untranslated, you may think the translation is not saved.
