I have the latest release of WordPress on a site that’s using Twenty Sixteen. Enabling Polylang hides/removes the top-side menu I’ve added with a couple of links to pages. What the hell? After spending 2 days battling really obscure bugs with various calendar plugins and finally settling on one that does indeed “just work”, the mere act of simply installing a multilanguage plugin breaking my site was not something I had expected.

But oh well, after I discovered that some calendar plugins are literally broken to the point of locking you out of your site (including admin), I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

  • Hi Chouby,

    I’m having the same issue!

I’ve spent a couple of days customizing relatively new basic themes (Sela & Twenty Sixteen) on my test site running on WP 4.4.2 and when I activate Polylang, everything disappears – no menu, no posts, no pages…

I have another site using the latest version of Polylang and running also on WP 4.4.2, but everything works fine, the only difference is that I use Twenty Twelve theme on this site.

I’d like to continue using Polylang with a new theme, would you have any idea of the cause? Thanks in advance!

    Bonjour Chouby,

I solved my problem. Posts and such were not a problem for me, the plugin screams at you to assing every pre-existing post a default language, not sure how you missed that. But as for my menu problem: I gave installing the plugin another go and this time I followed the PDF guide suggested on the FAQ page. It mentioned that you have to create 2 sets of menus, 1 for each language (for a total of 2 languages in my case). Once i did that, the menus now work.

oh it works, you saved my day, thanks!
