I am having difficulties connecting pages to translations. My website is https://www.poweroften.us. I have a few pages translated to spanish. my permalink settings are for ‘post name’, my langauge url setteing is ‘from content’. there is no dropdown box next to the spanish flag in the ‘languages’ box of edit page. when i paste in the shortcode of the alternative language page it does not save when i click update. the plus never turns into a pen. when i slect the language in the widget on any page it returns me to the home page. I have checked that the ‘force home page’ box is unchecked. What am I missing?

    Hello
To connect your page => Edit your ES page => in the meta box Language (on the top right) choose in the autocomplete input field the existing EN page as translation and update.
    What happens? Is it OK?
If not could you try with :
    your theme + only Polylang:
=> if it works add your other plugin one by one to find the conflict.
=> if it doesn’t work try with a default WordPress theme like Twenty twelve and just Polylang.

And tell me what you get.

with just polylang and my theme, it does not take pasting shortcode into the input field, bit when i click the plus sign it opens a new page and the plus turns into a pencil. I can then write that page as the translation and the pages are connected.

Now I am putting just the page name in the box, its the last bit between the last two forward slashes in the url and it is taking that! hooray!

Yes in input field you must to write the first characters of your existing translate post and no short code.
