• Hi guys,

My previous post was closed after 4 days without a response, so I’ll try again in a new thread:

I’m using the Polylang plugin in combination with the Studiofolio theme.

On all my other pages Polylang works like a dream; I have two languages (English and Dutch) and they work fine for most pages.

Only the Portfolio items don’t show; “file not found”.
I even made two portfolio’s; one English and one Dutch; and named them differently. But if I assign one portfolio item to one portfolio and the other item to the other portfolio; it automatically puts the two versions in the same portfolio.

I even tried just creating two portfolio items and not linking them together with Polylang, but this creates the same problem.
You can see it here: https://www.vier-video-animatie.nl/en/work/accare-animation/

As you can see, the English version of the portfolio item highlights my news-page (blog) and not the portfolio (called ‘work’ in the English version).

I hope someone can help me!
    Thanks so much!
    Iris

  • Hi,

Use the same theme, I’ve got your problem clearly, too.
Even in front-page layout where I do not auto-distinguish the language of item and I loaded both versions of the same article. Here I have “solved” with the manual layout.
After trying another translation plugin for WP I think the problem is with the theme, which was not designed for multi-lingual.
Or at least not for all of its options.

I would have solved, in this way, at least as regards the portfolio.
I hope that the setting of the plugin that I run the portfolio, do not adversely affect the operation of the plugin with other pages or options.

    Polylang settings:
    Options ON
    Portfolio Items ON
    Portfolio Category ON

    All other synchronization options OFF

Create versions in the second language only with + button, do not use plugin that clones post or page: this applies to ‘page portfolio’, ‘portfolio items’ and ‘category portfolio’.

    I think I’ve found a solution!
I entered the Polylang settings like you did. But also I’ve changed the first settings to this:
    – The language is set from content (This was the key!!)
    – Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks
    – The front page url contains the language code instead of the page name or page id

Also I’ve used different slugs/titels for each portfolio item, otherwise I’d get a -2 after each item in the url. I did the same for my portfolio, which I’ve called ‘Work’ in English.

    Hope this helps!
