• The plug-in and switcher were working fine but over the last week or something has gone awry.

The default home page should be ENGLISH but instead it is redirecting to the FRENCH version.

Clicking on the Australian flag on the widget just reloads the French page.

    Please help!

    Hi,

I visited your site and could not reproduce. Please empty your browser cache and cookies and test again.

It is happening for people who have never visited the site, not just for me. The homepage is only showing in French, not English.

Also still happening after clearing cache, cookies etc.

The front page is defaulting to the /fr link and clicking on the AUS flag when on the home page simply reloads the FR.

I seem to have narrowed it down that it is only happening on mobile. Not sure if it is a wordpress or a polylang issue. It seems to intermittently fix itself but then goes back to the same issue.

https://www.matildamarseillaise.com will load on a PC. But it will redirect to the https://www.matildamarseillaise.com/fr if anyone tries to load the https://www.matildamarseillaise.com on a mobile.

    Any ideas?

Try it first with a WP theme like twentyseventeen. If you have still the issue you should give more details. If there is no issue anymore, you should check with the theme author.

    Thanks @lachender_engel

I had exactly this problem, so I activated the WordPress TwentyFifteen theme and then reactivated my theme and the problem disappeared.

Disable the “auto-detect browser’s language” option in Polylang configuration. I stumbled upon this problem right now and nothing was working. I’m Brazilian but I use my computer in English and the main page should be in Portuguese, but it was always redirecting to English. When I disabled the auto-detection, the issue has gone.

Thanks Chrislopo. Sadly I have already deactivated the detect browser language setting and the problem still occurs, not always but still often enough to be annoying. I’m glad it worked for you though.

    Hi,
I keep getting this problem now and again. Lately every day. Emptying my browser’s cache helps for a day or so and it comes back.
    I use Chrome.
    Thanks,
    Hava

I tried all solutions mentioned i this thread – thanks for those! – but the problem remains.
Got two languages, represented in the menu with Polylang flags, and both flags lead to the default language only.
Also tried to change theme. Of course that did not make any difference, and I think it’s a bad excuse.
Polylang works fine with browser language recognition, but navigationwise Polylang has not been working for one single day out 100 days+ being installed.
This makes it difficult for me to understand how the plugin can be so popular and recommended.
