• Hi,

I’ve been using Polylang for years now and I absolutely love this plugin.

Currently I’m having a problem with the synchronization of custom fields in different languages.

I’m using Polylang with 5 different languages. Let’s say I’m creating a post in English and then create a translated post in German, Italian or French. I add 1 custom field in English.

Then I create the German translation/post and the custom field is shown as well, including its value.
The synchronization of custom fields in the settings is deactivated and I don’t use a wpml-config.xml config file or similar.

If I add additional custom fields in German, they won’t appear in English.
If I delete a custom field in English, it still remains in the German post.

So I’m wondering why the custom fields are getting synchronized when creating a new translation although I have synchronization deactivated in the settings. Deleting or adding custom fields in one language after the post has been created doesn’t affect the custom fields of other languages.

If I have 4 custom fields in German and create a translation in French, all 4 custom fields are synchronized with the French post but in English only the custom field from the beginning is shown.

This never happened before, just after the latest update I have this problem.

    Wordpress version: Version 5.6
    Polylang version: Version 2.9.1

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,
    Benjamin

    Update:
I’ve just set up a new Worpress site on my homeserver together with Polylang and it causes the same issues.
No additional plugins, just WordPress and Polylang without any modifications.

So I created a site with two languages, English and German. First post in English with one custom field. Now I create a translation in German and the custom field now appears twice on the German translation although I didn’t activate anything in the syncronization settings.
