• This plugin seems to have good reviews….

However after an hour of trawling through the the basic and thin information I have an API key…. now what? I have no idea how or what this plugin does now?
Via the wordpress plugin istall page, the plugin information Screenshots show of tracking information… where the hell is that?
The plugin information has a link to “How to insert AfterShip Track Button to WordPress or WooCommerce” taking me to https://aftership.uservoice.com/knowledgebase
No mention of anything there?.. a search of the knowledge base for wordpress gives nothing.

I am left wondering what this plugin actually does, not I have no idea of what it is clamming to do… certainly I can’t find anything other than vague references

  • hello, you need to create an account on the after ship site, then you choose what type of site you want to connect to after ship.Example choose a woo commerce site (or whatever platform your website is), then you will add the generated key, and your sites URL. Then you will get your own dashboard, from this dashboard you can see real time all your shipments status, if they are delivered or in transit etc. The generated key will sync your uploaded tracking numbers from your site to your page on after ship. All this is in addition to the plugins capability of uploading tracking numbers on your site and automated emails sent to your customers.

I sure hope you get what i am saying because it is one amazing plugin!!
They send you a video clip with your welcome email, have a look at those.
It is very unfair the review you have left these people just because you did not understand what the plugin is doing, have a look and re consider, it is a very sophisticated plugin and it is free for up to 100 tracking numbers per month!!!
Plus you can add more than one site to your dashboard.

… please refer to my initial post. I am not referring to the content of the documentation is poor, but rather that the links to the documentation are broken…. therefore poorly documented.

I have to agree with the original reviewer on this having just spent an hour too trying to get it to work.
I think the problem is the plugin setup has changed since the video. There is no longer any need, or even a place to paste the api key from aftership. But you do have to link the api from wordpress to after ship, which took a while to find with the user – role – api tick setting. Though OK once you’ve done it.
The tracking url box in the setting panel doesn’t seem to work with the default url tracking.aftership.com, but I found leaving it blank finally did bring up the tracking page I was expecting when I clicked on the TrackOrder button in order history with a known good courier tracking number.
The most useful feature, a tracking link in the order email seems to be missing – though this may be a premium feature?
I think if you use a lot of different carriers then this plugin and aftership would come into their own.
You probably need to relook at the setup guidance in light of recent changes to the plugin and perhaps clarify them a bit or redo the video.
The screenshots seem out of date as the implication is the tracking button expands a window, but it seems to open a new window, but only gave correct tracking when I blanked the url – no mention is made of how to set the url anywhere I can see?
Also you have instructions for creating a separate order tracking page. So I thought perhaps I needed to do this and then paste that url into the settings tracking url. At this point I saw how it was appending the url, and realised they weren’t connected and hence I tried leaving it blank. At least that’s how I got it to work!
