Poor Optimization of Image Lazy Load
-
One needs to wait a couple of second for Image to appear…..Not very smooth…It looks like whole website is stuck somewhere.
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
-
Well, that is part of the point of Lazy Loading its meant to do that for images that are out of the view. If the images after being scrolled too are taking a while to download then there is another issue occurring.
That being said, an option to show a loading icon would be much better and I believe is being looked into.
Thank you so much for instant response.
Before I was using this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/speed-up-lazy-load/. It was as smooth as Butter. However, then I thought If Jetpack can do the same why I should use a separate plugin.
As I had expected jetpack added one file named Lazy Load icon in the list of 100+ files download on my website. Why is that icon loading….sorry to say Jetpack needs a smart optimization….check what is essential what is not…..whichever not essential remove it.
I think I will switch back to the same plugin..

Hi Destac,
Thanks for jumping in. I agree with your explanation above.
It looks like there may be another issue behind.—
Hi Amar,
Thanks for letting us know.
I’ve had a look at your site, browsed some pages. I see your site is still using Jetpack Lazy Images, and the images are loading well.Is that possible taking us a screencast to show the issue? We’d like to troubleshoot this issue and improve Lazy Images if needed.
Hi, @htdat Thanks.
For me, it’s tough to explain how Jetpack Image Lazy Load is lagging. So, I have recorded a video. It is just an 85 seconds video. Request you have a Look
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v82nLjA338
My Broadband speed is 40 MBPS. So, there is no issue about slow internet connection.
If I do not get resolution I will surely consider the Speed Up Lazy Load Plugin. That is just 5KB in size but does wonderful job.

Hi Amar,
Thanks for your wonderful video.
I tested on my site with Lazy Images, they’re working well for me.
I’ve discussed with our co-workers and there are some possibilities.
1. The
speed-up-lazy-load
plugin does not work and the images are actually loaded on page load and not on scroll2. The plugin is set to start loading images as you scroll, but before you reach the image in the viewport. Jetpack does this too, but maybe that the
speed-up-lazy-load
plugin starts loading images earlier.Would you mind to run another test with the
speed-up-lazy-load
plugin and create another video? We’d like to see the significant difference.
Cheers,
Sure. I will post it today.
Hi @htdat
I just changed the Lazy Load…Deactived Jetpack and Activated https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/speed-up-lazy-load/
My god….my website loading once again as smooth as Butter….There is something wrong with jetpack Lazy Load…….or somehow it is not fit for my website….
In my last video, I had checked this URL….https://gadgets.shiksha/make-aadhaar-card-chennai.html
Check for yourself how smooth it is loading……in fact, this is truely called Lazy load…..
Well i tested a bit lazyload and seems like it works just fine, but for some reason one of my images(logo) which is placed on top of the page loads in lazy way… so my page start to jump on load… is there any way to add an exeption for a specific link via function for example ?
@dobriku which Lazy Load, Jetpack or Speed Up
Hi @htdat
Moreover, Server Response time for my website — according to Google Insight – was 1 second, now it is just 0.85 Second…….Disabling a Jetpack Lazy Load Module made a good impact.
@amar Jetpack lazy load reduced my site from 120 requests to 71 on pingdom , duno about pagespeed cause i have 85 mobile / 90 desctop but my page size was reduced from 5 mb to 3.9 …so i can definetly say that jetpack lazyload works, but my logo jumps on load ??
@dobriku Technically it does not seems to be right since Lazy load is only about …load images on scroll
On Pingdom, For my website too when I check with New York Server, there are 214 files…but when check with Sweden or any European Country Server, the count of file is just sometimes 71, then 114….
You should also test performance of Your website with https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/speed-up-lazy-load/..
Try once…see what difference it makes…
@amar well i’ve just took some time to test requests count on pingdom and it’s static 74 requests… my full page is 99 requests w/o lazy … and all thouse 25 requests reduced are images…
@dobriku Awesome………..
However,
I still insist testing your website performance with https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/speed-up-lazy-load/..
In size, this plugin is just 5KB………..No Setting required…could make your website load as smooth as slicing butter.
@amar i added width=”262″ height=”102″ to my logo and now jet lazy works as expected…and plugin you are refering didn’t realy work for me … i use kinda specified theme and real estate plugin and for some reason none of lazy load plugins didn’t work for me but jetpack + photon does the job…
