• The developers reached out immediately to resolve my concerns. The plugin works very well on the sites I put them on.

I’m sorry for the confusion. My free Shared Counts plugin is not associated, sponsored or in any way related to the paid service at sharedcount.com.

I built this plugin for use on my clients’ sites and posted it for free here. I don’t provide support beyond maintaining plugin documentation at sharedcountsplugin.com

I appreciate your team providing support even though I have the free version of the plugin. I spoke with your general manager, Karina. Is this the level of support that can be expected with the paid version? Karina didn’t seem to understand the concern.

Just a little helpful feedback, I hired overseas customer service agents with one of my previous businesses and it took me a few tries until I was able to find the right staff.

I like your plugin but can’t justify getting the paid version with the current level of support. I’m giving you an extra star for responding to my message here. Thank you for the reply.

There is no paid version of this plugin. We don’t have a general manager, nor any staff or overseas support agents.

That might be what led to your poor experience with Karina – they are supporting / selling a product unrelated to this plugin so they didn’t know what you were asking about.

Can you share a link to the paid plugin? I want to make sure no one is trying to sell a paid version of my free plugin.

    Thanks

    Hi Bill,

Here is a link to the website: https://www.sharedcount.com/

Here is the email I sent my initial message to: [email protected]

The responding agent was Karina Mikaela Cortez. She put “general manager” in the signature of her email ([email protected]).

Please let me know if this isn’t your company. I now notice that this company is “shared count” not “shared counts”. The logo is also slightly different than the logo in WordPress repository, but at first glance they look identical. Very confusing!

“Shared Count” is not my company. While we can leverage their API to reduce queries per page, you can also use the “Native” query to get the counts directly from Facebook, Pinterest, etc and not use their paid service.

When we launched the Shared Counts plugin, “Shared Count” had a generous free plan so we added an integration with it. They have since reduced the free plan to make it not viable for most users, so we recommend using the “Native” count if you need counts.

If you just need sharing buttons and don’t care about the total share count, select “None” as the source. Personally, I no longer include counts in the social sharing buttons on sites I build because they don’t add much value, the native counts fail sometimes, and it’s not worth paying “Shared Count” for access to the data.

I updated my rating to 5 stars and changed my review. Thank you so much for clarifying everything. I agree, the counts don’t seem to add much value. Thank you again.
