Been trying to search through the posts for something similar but to no avail.
I guess the Topic title is quite straight forward in this case.

I am currently using Divi (from Elegant themes) on a site I am trying to create for a friend and had no luck with this plugin.

I have installed the popup plugin in numerous occasions with great results but I am having trouble getting it to work on divi.

Is there anything to do about this?
Does this even classify as a “common issue”?
Any help would be greatly appreciated…

(tested the popup on default theme creating a sub-domain and it works like a charm there)

    Hey there Geo,

    Hope you’re well today ??

I’ve searched through WPMU DEV forum and didn’t find any reports of that so it’s not really a “common issue”.

Since Divi is a premium theme there is no way for me to test this out for you, what exactly is not working there?

Few things to try if the popup is not loading at all on your site:

    1. Try different loading methods in PopUp -> Settings -> PopUp Loading Method
    2. Try it only with Divi and WordPress PopUp active to see if this is not a conflict between WordPress PopUp/Divi and some other plugin.

    Please let me know ??

    Cheers,
    Bojan

    Hey Bojan,
    thanks for your reply!
    Regarding the “things to try”:
    1. First thing I did was try different loading methods and
Page Footer unfortunately had “issues” with the theme
WP Ajax and Custom Ajax only get me to the point I can preview the popup with success but they do not show the popup when I visit the url I appointed it to.
( I’ve used it on a stripped down browser just in case ad-blocks block the popup )
    2. I tried deactivating every plugin and use only WordPress Popup and Divi and still I can only just preview the popup.

What is quite strange is this: In my efforts to try and beat this puzzling situation I created a sub-domain and added just the Divi theme and the WordPress Popup Plugin and guess what… It does Work! So it must be another plugin interfering with the Popup even though it gets deactivated later on.
( probably a “cache” or security plugin I guess )

    Hey again Geo,

If this is working on another subdomain on the same server it’s safe to assume this is not server related but related to your original site specifically as you already mentioned

If you deactivated all other plugins I don’t think this is related to cache or security plugins, you can check browser console on your site to see if there are any errors. In Chrome go to “View -> Developer -> JavaScript Console” and in Firefox you can go to “Tools -> Web Developer -> Console”

Find information about how to open JavaScript browser console:
    https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/8525/how-to-open-the-javascript-console-in-different-browsers
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

If there is an error it’s possible that some of the settings used in Divi theme is breaking the JS causing popup not to be displayed.

Possibly check if you have any specific add ons or something similar activated in the theme.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    Hey Bojan,
thanks for trying with me on this.
There are no errors on any page of the site (checked on 4 different browsers).

-I created a sub-domain and installed ALL the plugins the main site uses.( WP popup was the first, I don’t know if this is even relevant) In each installation I was checking both the settings to be according to the main site and if the Pop-up appeared. Well, it did… it was working…
what kind of sorcery is this?
-I then tried to use a different popup plugin on the main site just to make sure, and well after 5 or 6 tries I came to the conclusion that not a single popup plugin is working there.

    Hello Geo,

Very strange issue then when non of the popup plugins works on you site. Does you subdomain site is maybe staging site that you can create from you hosting management panel? Usually those staging sites have disabled cache when on live site cache is enabled by default.

Can you maybe try again our plugin and paste here link to that site so we could see it live?

    kind regards,

    Hey Kasia,
    thanks for the reply
    Latest updates:
Seems the previous administrator installed some plugins that probably left crumbs on the site. I cannot justify the behavior of the site any differently regarding the popups.I wish I could communicate with him in order to inform me about everything he had installed/uninstalled before I got my hands on the site but this is not possible.
I tried writing some custom javascript on a module provided by divi and it still didn’t show my custom popup.
So somehow the JS didn’t work at all on the site!
I am quite sure by now that it had nothing to do with the WP Popup or Divi for that matter.
At least I found a backup dated several months ago and restored the site in a previous functioning state, and now I am just tweeking..
The popup works just fine now by the way.
