Popular posts for each locale

Is it possible to render popular posts for each locale, specific to that locale? It looks like whats happening is if I’m on the en-us locale, those posts will reflect on the zh-cn and ja-jp locales if there are translations available for those English posts. What I’d like to do is make it so that each locale is accurately showing the popular posts in that specific language.

I’m using Polylang plugin which integrates with Lingotek plugin. We’re using Lingotek simply for professional translation services so I don’t think Lingotek should interfere since its only an integration with their dashboard where Linguists translate our content.
I had set up basic implementation with PolyLang to display the top posts for a particular locale.
It uses
pll_get_postto fetch the correct language post as per the reference – https://polylang.wordpress.com/documentation/documentation-for-developers/functions-reference/I don’t use PolyLang so difficult for me to test the outcomes on an ongoing basis.
