Popularity Contest Plugin Problem!

    I have installed Popularity Contest Plugin by Alex King on my website https://www.nela.in/. The plugin works well in showing popoularity of posts, but whenever a commenter wants to comment it throws up an error Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/content/n/r/a/nrajiv/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/popularity-contest/popularity-contest.php on line 1554. Cannot figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
