    Hello,

Has this plugin been abandoned, there haven’t been any updates for a long time and it appears to have broken since the WordPress 6.5 update?

I had a popup that used to display after a few seconds on page load, positioned central, with a black opacity overlay and able to close with the click of the ‘X’ button, or anywhere off the popup. Now it appears on page load, top left of the screen, without an overlay at all and it can’t be closed.

The admin screen now also lists all post types, but not a list of popups.

Can you let me know when you plan to fix these issues, or if you have abandoned development of the plugin.

    Thank you

Hi, plugin is not abandoned, it’s actively mantained. Can you please open the popup and check that html is updated correctky? Also can you please share the content of the popup? simply go to editor and open the code editor view and paste the code here?

    Thanks

    hello,

I’m so pleased it’s not abandoned, it’s a great plugin, which I like using.

As I mentioned above, I can’t open the editor because the admin window only displays posts, but not the popups.

I could provide you with login credentials, but obviously not here.

    Thanks

Please don’t offer to send or post logon credentials on these forums: https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines#the-bad-stuff

It is not OK to offer, enter, or send site credentials on these forums. Thanks for your cooperation.

    @tropicalista

I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

    • Ask for a link to the https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.
    • Ask the user to create and post a link to their phpinfo(); output.
    • Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.
    • Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
    • Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again.
    • Ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

There’s a misunderstanding. I was not offering anything. That email is just for create support ticket and solve the problem.

However I understand your concern, I was just trying to solve problem.

Steven Stern (sterndata) there was no reason for you to get involved. My comment clearly said “obviously not here”, meaning we wouldn’t post any sensitive information. I was just enquiring if there was a support web page for the developer, we could share this information.

tropicalista Does your website have a support section where I could get in touch with you?

    Thank you

I will reiterate: Asking for, offering, or posting passwords here will get you in trouble. We do not want the practice normalized.

Steven Stern (sterndata) I will reiterate: we didn’t!

Let me be perfectly clear @benchmarkgraphics the rule is:

Common reasons for edits or suspensions include […] Posting or accepting offers or requests for login information to a site.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#in-closing

    And this:

I could provide you with login credentials

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/popups-broken-after-wordpress-6-5-update/#post-17563677

is where you posted an offer for login information to a site.

That is one of the most serious rules here, it’s both a security concern for you, and it’s a liability issue for www.ads-software.com.

Also, referring to the quoted rule early, accepting that offer is also against the rules, and following the forum guidelines is one of the rules that plugin developers must follow:

Developers and their plugins must not do anything illegal, dishonest, or morally offensive. […] This includes (but is not restricted to) the following examples: […] Violations of the Forum Guidelines

    https://developer.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-org/detailed-plugin-guidelines/#9-developers-and-their-plugins-must-not-do-anything-illegal-dishonest-or-morally-offensive

So, not only is it security concern for your site, it’s a liability issue for www.ads-software.com, and it could result in this plugin (and the developer’s 4 other plugins) being banned from www.ads-software.com entirely.

In short, please don’t argue about the rule, it exists and you broke it, just don’t it again. Thank you.

    (@benchmarkgraphics)

Support Moderator I am not arguing and you are not being fair. Your screenshot clearly missed the part where I said ‘<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>clearly not here</span>’.

So I didn’t break any rule. I would never give any sensitive information on this or any other website.

Let me be clear one last time @benchmarkgraphics

The rule is that you may not offer login information here. You didn’t post login information, but you did offer it.

I want to make sure that’s clear, so you don’t accidentally break the rule again, which could result in, again, you and the plugin developer being banned from www.ads-software.com.

    (@tropicalista)

Now that we have this clarification, I think I can close this for further comments.

    Thanks
