Portfolio Gallerys disappeared and cannot reinstate

All the portfolio items galleries have disappeared and when you try to edit the item you cannot select images. the properties for the gallery are missing entirely when you try to create a new item. I have tried disabing other plugins and reinstalling but nothing seems to be working
