Hello, I am using a custom theme from templatemonster which has an existing “portfolio” back end menu tab. I have activated Jetpack and furthermore, activated the Jetpack “portfolio” option, giving me two back end user side menus called “portfolio” one from the theme itself and a second one that is supplied by jetpack. I am running up to date plugins, wordpress and theme.

The issue is that the jetpack generated https://www.mysite.com/portfolio list works, however the individualized “posts” of the portfolio section have broken permalinks giving me an “Error 404 Not Found” error.

I have attempted to simply save my permalink structure a few times hoping that would flush out anything, and event switched from “Default” to “post name” and a few other permalink options. No fix.

I them deactivated the Jetpack “portfolio” option and reactivated it. No fix. I then Deactivated Jetpack as a whole plugin and reactivated it. No fix. Each try, I refreshed permalink by saving them again. No Fix.

    What is happening?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

What happens when you switch to one of the default themes for a few minutes? Do you experience similar issues?

    Thanks!

Thank you Jeremy for your response.

    site.com/portfolio/ – Portfolio works
    site.com/portfolio/2014-03-11-meeting-minutes/ – PROJECT DOESN’T WORK
    site.com/portfolio/2014-03-11-meeting-minutes/2014-03-11-meeting-minutes/ – Media works
    site.com/portfolio/2014-03-11-meeting-minutes/attachment/2014-03-11-meeting-minutes/ – Attachment works

Everything works fine using a default theme, but the above described scenario does not work with the templatemonster theme. I’ve set up the type of page and url structure to help distinguish them above – I hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Alright, thanks for the extra details.

Could you now switch back to the templatemonster theme, then deactivate Jetpack’s Custom Content Types module under Jetpack > Settings in your dashboard, and run the same tests again?

I’m sorry to say that this method you suggested did not resolve the issue??

Although that didn’t solve the issue, we now know that the problem is not linked to Jetpack’s Custom Content Types module.

Could you now try to deactivate Jetpack completely, and run the same tests again? Do you still experience issues with some of your URLs?

The suggestion has been unable to help yet. Jetpack was deactivated and then reactivated. Sorry to say. Even after ensuring to purge permalinks multiple times following the jetpack deactivation and reactivation.

Just to be clear, do you continue to experience issues when Jetpack is deactivated? Could you run your tests before you reactivate the plugin?

That is correct, even when jetpack is disabled – the main portfolio itemized “post” pages do not work, however the portfolio post “Media” page works

    mysite.com/portfolio – works
    mysite.com/portfolio/post – DOES NOT WORK
mysite.com/portfolio/post/post – works (duplicating the existing post URL 2 times and it works)

Alright, that helps. It confirms that the problem is not linked to Jetpack. You’ll need to get in touch with the theme author for help. If you send them a link to this thread, they should have enough information to try to reproduce the problem on their end.
