Portfolio Item – no custom fields

When editing a Portfolio Item, the “Custom Fields” section is not available. I guess that is because ‘custom-fields’ is not included in the register_post_type call.

Is there a reason why the portfolio type is registered without the ‘custom-fields’? If not, it would be handy to have it registered with ‘custom-fields’ so a child theme can make decisions based on some additional meta data specified in those fields.

(I see there is a add_post_type_support function in WordPress that perhaps a child theme can call to add the ‘custom-fields’, but I don’t know if that would break something or cause some conflicts with Virtue.)
