Portfolio navigation based on Project Types

Dear Espied. I am trying to make your Next/Previous/Archive navigation based on Portfolio > Project Types (i have two: publications & projects). This works ok from the content-portfolio.php page (/wordpress/project-type/project/ & /wordpress/project-type/publication).

However when i go into the single portfolio item (content-portfolio-single.php) ALL portfolio items are listed in the Next/Previous/Archive navigation.

I tried the: get_the_terms / get_adjacent_post / get_next_post hooks but the theme seems to be ignore any of these?

Can you point me to a workable solution, or is there premium version to make this possible?
