Hello. I am using the Portfolio Press theme and have been for a couple of years with no issues whatsoever until just recently. First, I am not using a child theme. Feel free to throw things at me. That being said, I am using the theme in conjunction with the Simplest Gallery plugin.

Suddenly over the weekend my thumbnails started to scale larger and as a result the thumbs look horrible. In the past I had them set at 150×150. Full column width page template. 4 column gallery.

I have scoured the forum and Google and attempted to follow thru with some of the suggested fixes with no luck.

Checked my server and GD is supported and enabled.
Functions.php is set to 150×150 for thumbnails.
Media settings appear to be correct.
    Regenerated thumbnails.
Deleted all of the images and reuploaded them.
Deleted the galleries and created new ones.
    Attempted to regenerate thumbnails again.
    Deactivated the theme.
    Deleted and reinstalled the theme.
    Deactivated every plugin.
Deleted Simplest Gallery plugin and reinstalled.

Any thoughts? Could this just be a result of incompatibility with the theme and the latest version of WordPress? Any advice will be most appreciated.

    UPDATE:
I removed all photos. Adjusted media settings for thumbnail to 175×175 and set to crop exactly. Uploaded pics again. Created gallery again. Regenerated thumbnails again.

The thumbs are now cropped to a square but still do not appear as they should (175×175) and are scaling larger. I had the gallery set to 4 column and only 3 photos would show per line. I changed it to 5 column and now 4 fit on a line but the gallery is now left justified.

Pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Help. Please. ??

May as well delete this thread as I have switched themes.

In the latest version of the theme, images scale to fill the available space. So, if you updated your thumbnail settings to display at size or larger, and then regenerated I would have expected it to fix.

Another option is to use the JetPack plugin and enable the Photon module, which will load and resize images off the WordPress.com servers.

    Sorry you encountered issues!
