• Hello. I’m Farer web developer is using wordpress lately.
I started to wonder about the structure of wordpress system.

Are you considering moving core folders and files back of DocumentRoot where end-user can’t access to it like you made it possible to move file ‘wp-confi.php’ ?

By locating core folders and files under the DocumentRoot, we have so many security issues.
I think it is the best solution to move wp-includes, wp-admin to upper folder.
What do you think about it ?
Do you have any plan ?

  • I doubt that will happen. The biggest reason for this is that not every host allows you to have files under the web root. Sure, the good ones do, but I’ve personally worked with about 5 so far that don’. As WordPress does it’s best to be as cross-platform and cross-environment friendly as possible, something like this could cause some issues, not to mention the problems if a non-techinical person tried to move the files themselves… there’s enough people in here that get into big trouble from changing the URL in their admin area, so something like this would quickly create massive problems for a whole lot of users that think they are doing the right thing.
