    Hi, WordPress team.

This is what produced error on my fresh install of WordPress 5.7.2

Options -> Discussion -> Disallowed Comment Keys

    loan
    lock ?iles
    locker code

Click Save, and encountered a 404 error on /wp-admin/options.php

These three are just a narrowed down portion from my 700+ blacklist words that I shared across all my wordpress sites without any problem, though most of them are not up to 5.7.2 just yet.

I’ve already checked the database, and it’s collation is utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci on both DB and table level. So, the problem shouldn’t be at database.

I’m using a shared server, so upgrading nor downgrading any system version aren’t my choice.

    Server Information:
    cPanel Version 94.0 (build 10)
    Apache Version 2.4.46
    PHP Version 7.3.28
    MySQL Version 10.3.28-MariaDB-cll-lve
    Architecture x86_64
    Operating System linux

I just added those words to a fresh installation of WordPress, and I didn’t get any errors. The settings page was saved and the site continues to work as normal.

Update: Problem solved. It was a server problem, not a WordPress problem.

Web hosting company, Namecheap, messed up with their Mod Security settings. When they disable Mod Security, the said problem is gone. That’s just it.

The funny thing is that this problem existed in 2014. Fast forward into 2021, it’s still not fixed, duh.

For those who have the same problem and read this, this is the step you will need to ask your hosting support.

    1. Ask support to disable Mod Security. (Whitelist rule don’t help)
    2. Do your wordpress settings.
    3. When finish, ask support to enable Mod Security back again.

PS: Thanks George for your comment.
