• I just did a full upgrade on my site, taking WordPress to 4.8, Genesis to 2.5.2, and Genesis Author Pro to 1.0.

I noticed a change and/or bug once the upgrades were done to the book library. Wherever there was a link that should go to the series, it gave a 404 error. It seemed that the link was going to /book-series/series-slug now, instead of /series/series-slug. The /book-series versions failed; if I manually typed in the old /series version (and these were custom links on my menu), they worked fine.

You can see this error if you are running the above configuration and then you view an individual book. At the bottom will be a link to its series – this is what is pointing to /book-series instead of /series and is failing.

I immediately downgraded Genesis Author Pro to version 0.9 from a backup and the problem was resolved. Unfortunately you can’t test it out on my site as this is a critical problem so I can’t have the new, buggy version installed on my live site. But I’m hoping the developers have a test install somewhere where they can reproduce or verify this bug and then fix it.

  • Thanks for reporting this, @snowbelly.

You could try visiting/resaving your Settings → Permalinks page after updating the plugin.

The plugin slugs changed in a recent update, and resaving permalink settings should ensure that change is reflected on your pages and in WordPress’s internal rewrite rules.
