• Hi,

Not sure if this is a bug only with Localhost or in general, but I’ve found quite a few other support threads with this topic.

    Issue
: doing the auto update from WP 4.2 to WP 4.3 in Dashboard on Local host won’t complete.

It starts downloading OK, but downloads a file called ‘wordpress-4.3-no-content.zip‘. It then stops and can’t unpack or complete, with no error message – just stops. On refresh of the page it shows the warning message ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ and when you do it reloads the dashboard with the update message still in place – ie. no update has taken place.

All support thread have suggested to do a manual update instead as it’s occasionally a bit glitchy, BUT it seemed odd for the file to have the extension ‘-no-content’ after the version number, as I’m sure that’s not the norm.

So after a few repeated attempts and a bit of research, I found the newly downloaded ‘wordpress-4.3-no-content.zip’ file in the wp-content > upgrade folder, unpacked it and compared it with the downloaded version and it looked the same except for ‘no wp-content folder’ (!) and a different zip folder name.

So, I tried re-naming the auto-downloaded update in the upgrade folder from ‘wordpress-4.3-no-content.zip’ to ‘wordpress-4.3.zip’ and clicked the Auto-update dashboard button again – and bingo, it seems to have worked!

Hopefully it was a good install, which I’ll test tomorrow, but it looks to me like the download file has been incorrectly named. Could someone in the WP team check this out?

    many thanks, J
