    Hi All,

Installed WP in a subdirectory for a client recently and have ran into a problem I can’t figure out. Here’s the issue:

BTW: WP in yahoo was basically a quick install- not a manual one. The wp version available through Yahoo business was an older version- so I did an automatic upgrade after the install- not sure if this may be the root of the issue.

Installed pre-purchased theme with no issues. Proceeded to add pages and widgets and noticed that although displaying on the backend, changes were not displaying live. It was only AFTER I switched to the WP default theme and switched back again did the changes take place.

FYI: I deactivated ALL but the following plugins that were preinstalled already when I installed WP on Yahoo Small Bus cpanel to rule out conflicts with plugins:
    -Askimet
    -Customizable Permalinks
    -WP db backup
-Contact Form 7 (installed after theme install)

The author of the template believes it’s a yahoo issue and not a template issue, yet I don’t have this problem when I switch to other other templates????

Unfortunately Yahoo does not offer WP tech support, so really hoping someone has heard about this issue before and can give me some feedback on how to fix it.

Here is the link for the website https://micromilestones.com/wordpress/

    Thanks for your help!!

  • Let me see if I understand… so EVERY time you make a change it doesn’t show until you switch to the default theme and then back? If so, perhaps it’s a caching issue. Try making a change and then clear the browsers cache and refresh.

If it’s not a browser cache issue, see this article for other helpful suggestions.

I tried the clearing my cache and it didn’t help. Will check out that article now…thanks!

ok think I found the culprit although now I don’t know how to fix it!

The article suggested it may be the wp cache plugin. This plugin was actually already installed when I did the WP install. Anyway, I deactivated it.

Now after reading the article thought that may be the culprit, I decide to delete the plugin to see if it would correct the problem and my site and admin are completely blank now.

I’m assuming at this point I’m going to have to uninstall WP folders/files and then reinstall. BTW is there a proper protocol for this, or is it basically just deleting the files via ftp?

It’s in a subdirectory, so I’m hoping deleting the files and reinstalling won’t cause issues. that is it’s under mysite.com/wordpress

Yes, I’d start with deleting and re-uploading all of the files from a fresh WordPress download. If that doesn’t work, and you don’t mind losing all of your data, you could do a full re-instal of WordPress, which involves deleting and recreating the MySQL databases and deleting and re-uploading all of the files.

    will give that a shot…thanks!!

    Hi Again,

So step 1 did resolve the issue so working on step 2. I ran into something interesting and wondering if someone has heard of this before??

I in the process of trying to create a new db for the new install and I noticed in my phpMyAdmin the database that was corrected with the original wp install contains a table named falbum_cache

Looked it up and it said it was a wp plugin yet couldn’t find this plugin in the plugin directory????

Could this be the source of the issue??? it was not showing in the wp admin when the site was still running.

Thinking of dropping the table and seeing if that corrects the issue but want to make sure it’s not something important.

    Thanks again!!
