possible conflict with publishpress authors plugin

Greetings — I’ve successfully used your plugin in past to display a grid of author avatars/names, and links to their archive pages. Something has happened since Dec 2020, when I last viewed the pages with your plugin shortcode, and it appears to now conflict with PublishPress Authors; see the linked page as one example. Symptoms:

(1) Any changes in my shortcode parameters are not executed; only if I completely eliminate the shortcode, then the entire authors list disappears.

(My current shortcode below:)
[authors_list show_bio="no" orderby="last_name" order="ASC" skip_empty="yes" only_authors="yes" roles="author" show_link="no" show_count="no" exclude="18" style="1"]

(2) Authors List displays include text from PP Authors archive template (e.g., “(More information available to logged-in users)”), and PP Authors custom fields (e.g., course summaries).

There must be some reason for these issues, though they’re extremely puzzling and not anything like I’ve experienced before.
