I’m thinking about using this plugin to replace The Events Calendar. So far so good – I like the ease with which I can customise things.

One thing I can’t do in EM at present though, is to maintain a list of Event Organisers as well as Locations. I’d like to be able to (e.g.) record the name and website of the organiser, which may well be different from the event website. Each organiser might be involved in several events so I’d want to reuse their details.

Or am I wrong? Is it possible to create / manage a list of organisers, and to connect events to one of the organisers?

  • Great idea, also the possibility to hide the Organiser info unless he is member of a certain user role.

Thanks for supporting the idea. In my case, the organisers would probably be companies or organisations, so not WP users as such.

I can probably add organisers by defining a new custom post type, and then using other plugins such as Advanced Custom Fields to add a new “Organiser” attribute to an EM event. But it would be good to have it built in to the EM plugin.

I saw in the EM placeholders docs that there are values such as #_CONTACTNAME and #_CONTACTURL. Those would perhaps do what I need, but I can’t see where you would define them on an event.

    Hello,

Those might be possible with using other plugins, maybe buddypress or membership plugins.

The idea is you could think of Event Organizers as a “User” with special access. You could give them specific user roles. ie: “Event Organizer” or “Author”. From here, you could give those Roles with specific permissions where they could Add/Edit Events. You can manage those permissions under Events > Settings > General > User Capabilities.

If a specific user have enough permissions, He could create his/her own event which He should be able to manage anytime.

Another way also is maybe using BuddyPress and create Groups of Buddy Press. Then you could treat those groups as perhaps a Company/Organizations. If you have BuddyPress Installed and have groups, When you’re creating an Event you could specify which group an Event belongs to.

You could check out our documentation with BuddyPress using this link: https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/buddypress/
