I haven’t been able to properly use the plugin on the block editor since I can’t technically type anything into it when I click on the footnote button. As such, I have been manually typing [mfn] and [/mfn] for the longest time. The problem now is that with the new block editor, all images and words are in a separate block, so I haven’t been able to insert images in. Am I doing it wrong, or will there be potential for update in the future?

    Hi @dummyt ,

I was able to add an image into a footnote with these steps:

    1. In Block Editor, click the down arrow on the toolbar to show more options. Choose “Add a Footnote”
    2. Start typing to insert footnote content. The footnote content will appear highlighted in gray.
    3. Click the down arrow on the toolbar and choose the “Inline Image” option to add an image.

Can you give that a try and see if that works for you?

    Best,
    Sean

Thank you for replying, I actually figured out how to use in line image to get the image in ?? Previously, after clicking on ‘add a footnote’ the grey highlight would appear but I couldn’t type anything in it. Maybe I missed something but I can do it now. However, one thing I noted (not really a major issue) is that the footnotes only work if you highlight the section you’d like to insert as footnote before clicking on ‘add a footnote’. This is a little different from classic editor where clicking on the footnote button would auto generate [mfn][/mfn].

Other than that, this works. Thanks^_^

Great, glad you were able to find a workaround. I’m continually working to improve the Block Editor functionality so I’ll keep in mind that feedback as I work on it!
