I manage a small community site and BNFW has been working nicely. The site is locked down – only registered community members have access. While everyone likes the email notifications for posts, several members reply to the email thinking they are responding to a post author.

Is there a shortcode that could be used to set the From email and username to post author and post author email? Or CC post author/email? I see [post_author], but don’t see [post_author_email] or option to have reply address as from user who triggered. I can appreciate where you would not want this on open site, but would be helpful on closed site.

    Hi @timjeenyus,
    Thanks for your message.

There isn’t this functionality currently however, I do plan to improve the additional email header fields in BNFW in the future.

For now, to curb members replaying to emails, i’d suggest using a ‘no-reply’ email address which automatically replies and says they should reply via the website instead. This, coupled with adding a link to the post at the bottom of your notification might work well.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Thanks for the quick response, Jack. I considered a no-reply email with link, but I have a couple of users who don’t like the closed site nor appreciate the privacy reasons why it is closed. So they don’t remember login credentials. Anyway, look forward to updates.
