Hi, I have used your redirection plugin for quite some time without any problem. There is still no problem now and serves me well. However, I realised that after updating to the latest version, google pagespeed insight and gtmetrix require me to compress “direct-plugin/js/qppr_frontend_script.js could save 795B (64% reduction)”. I can’t compressed it, possible to remove it and will it affect the redirections? Thanks in advance.

  • Quan88,
That file is optional – BUT, without it, the New Window and No Follow functionality for Quick Redirects will not work at all – and that is the trade-off you have to consider.

To turn it off, if you choose to do so, just uncheck the “Use jQuery” in the options.

One thing to note – 795B is less than 1KB of savings in load time – you are talking about .0013 seconds savings at approx 5 mbs download speeds. The savings is not really worth worrying about.

Some of the tools that suggest ways to speed up a site can be very misleading and show a huge reduction in percentage – but in reality, the actual file size saving is insignificant in terms of the big picture – just keep that in mind when considering what to change to speed up your site.

Like I said, you can definitely turn it off if you choose to do so.

    Warm regards,
    Don

    Hi Don,

I saw your reply yesterday actually. This plugin fast support can put premium plugin to shame,

I don’t use NW and NF, so I just disabled it. Thanks.

    Great!
    Thanks for the update.

    Warmest regards,
    Don
