    Hi All,
OK, I realise this may have been asked time and time again, but this is more than just the same question!

The usual question is: “How can I put individual posts on other pages and not have them on the home/index page” (or something similar).

My question is: after the amount of times this question has been asked, why can we still not choose on which page our posts are displayed?

We have just been given a new version of WordPress (and I am very grateful for a free bit of kit). but, why spend so much time on dropdown menus and drag and drop features, when what we really want is more functionality.

It seems odd that when I create a post I can choose the category or even change the date of posting, but I can not, with a couple of clicks of the mouse, tell it, on which pages to display.

I know there are plugins that provide widgets to put post on other pages, but they can not stop any individual post showing on the home/index page?

Have I missed something? Is this possible yet?

    Simon.

    Hurragh!!

OK I have done it. I have made my site have post category specific pages, which do not show on my homepage.

After a lot of thought, it struck me how dumb I was being. It is all to do with how you handle the old homepage (where your post go by default).

After making your homepage a static page, just do not set the post page to anything. But in the Pages Post plugin set your new homepage to accept Uncategorised posts, so you still have a blog page as home but you can control posts that have categories to go onto the relative page.

I would not usually show an incomplete site but here is a link to my new blog, which will replace all my other blogs, so I can have subject specific pages.

    I am happy.
