What’s good, thank you so much for that kind of awesome plugin. I’ve been testing out some of the capabilities it bring us all and it’s such a huge permissions plugin.

I’ve noticed there’s a way to restrict the reading of posts to different kind of user roles, for example I can restrict a post to the ”Buyers” user role. That’s exactly what I was looking for and I’ve been using it for the last week.

The main question I’m having now is if there’s a way to restrict post categories to certain user roles instead of edit them all one by one to select who should be able to read them or not.

There’s no problem in editing the posts to bring permissions to certain users at all, at least for small websites since I have like 50 published posts… But for the huge ones it could be a big headache.

    Any help is welcome.

Until recently, WordPress had no built-in way to store additional data for categories (e.g., who can read the category’s posts). However, now that categories have full metadata support, it’s very possible.

The problem is that it introduces a whole set of new issues to work through and will bloat the Members plugin more than I’d like. One thing I’m considering is turning the entire “Content Permissions” component into its own, separate plugin to better handle new features. That’s something that’d be a good while off though if I ever do it.

In the meantime, here’s how I handle a similar scenario on my own membership site: https://justintadlock.com/archives/2012/10/16/how-i-run-a-membership-site

That example uses custom post types, but the method can be used for categories too.
