    Hi,
when i activate the “show post count” feature, the amount of posts is shown only of the parent category, not from all posts in that category (the amount of posts in sub-categories is missing).
Is there a option to change this? because this is the only reason why i bought the pro version. And it doesn’t work.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello. There is no option at Iks Menu to change it. These posts’ counts are from WooCommerce.

hi, i dont use woocommerce. its the simple postcount of posts in categories and parent categories. Yes, if that is not possible to change, please refund. i will edit my review after this

Okay, it’s the same: we use a special field from WordPress to display the number of posts, we don’t count it ourselves.

Please specify your Email, that you’ve used to buy PRO version.

ok. would you please kind enough to refund this? you menu is awesome, but as this function is the only reason to buy pro, its not worth 20$ for my purpose. i need the full post count. maybe i need to hire a dev to calculate it somehow in regular category menus

And what If we try to create a new setting at Iks Menu to fix counts?
We’ll probably need 1-2 days for it. Will you wait for this?

We see, that “Europa” category has a large posts count indicator at this moment (124), is this incorrect behavior?

    Thread Starter wom87

    (@wom87)

almost. thats because the posts inside of this category also have this category (europe) and the subcategory. This is different in other parent categories. For example: Ozeanien. 89 is the post count of this category as shown in the menu. But in subcategory australia alone are 190 posts.
So i need the complete amount of posts including all posts in subcategories.
in that way i can show the user how many posts he will have to see when he opens the parent category toggle.
As of now, there should be 295 as postcount for Ozeanien.
this website have 1141 posts. They all have categories. So the amounts of post counts should be in a higher range as they are now shown. there are only 10 parent categories. All others are subcategories.
I would recommend to simply take the function from wordpress original category widget. they do it. they just dont have it as beautiful as your plugin. So to take the same code for this function should work.
i put the regular wordpress category widget into my website as a dropdown with all postscounts correctly shown. so you can compare the amounts.

Ok, but what if one post belongs to 2 categories (i.e. CategoryA + CategoryB)?
In that way CategoryA will display 1 and CategoryB will display 1. What should be displayed for CategoryParent, that contains CategoryA + CategoryB?

    CategoryParent (???)
    – CategoryA (1)
    – CategoryB (1)

i edit my last reply. check out the original category widget of wordpress itself. this works. maybe just take it from them to count the postcount ??

for your question: answer is 2 or 1. it depends on the posts. If there are 2 posts and 1 post is category 1 and the other post is category 2, then the answer is 2.
But if there is only 1 post and this post have 2 categories (categroy 1 & categroy 2), the answer is 1.
If the parent category itself have posts as well, the answer is same as above + (???) how many posts are in this category as well ??

i guess there is the problem. You count the posts per category. that is correct. but it would be better if you count the posts + the posts in subcategories of that category as well, because that is a game-changer and clearly worth a lot, as it allowes to shrink the menu down from 170 categories to only 10 parent categories and the user can still see how many posts he will see on his way through the toggles of subcategories.

    @wom87, can you please try:

    1. Update Iks Menu to the latest 1.9.8 version
    2. Go to “Display” > “Posts count”
    3. Set the “Calculation type” setting to “Sum children”
    4. Check if it works as expected
