Post Date and Post Update Question

Hi there,

tried the search, but haven’t found anything that fits my needs.

My problem:
Sometimes I need to update some of my posts. When I update, I would like to be able to push this post (OR multiple updated posts) back on the front page without having to mess with the original post date (I would like to preserve the original post date). Also it would be great if there would be something like a box on the edit-post admin panel where it asks whether this post update is frontpage-push-worthy or not as I don’t want posts where I corrected links or typos to appear on the frontpage.

Is this possible with WordPress? Does anyone know of a plugin which is capable of this? Help is appreciated.
