Post date format suggestion

In my BirdTIPS child theme I needed to override a parent theme function, but this is not possible because not all the parent theme functions are pluggable (wrapped in a if (!function_exists()) condition). Could you guys (the developers) improve this and do your theme more customizable?

For now, I already wrapped the needed function in a if (!function_exists()) condition in the functions.php of the parent theme and overrided it in the child theme functions.php file, but this is not a good solution.
