• Hello, Snowball has been great for non-coders like me to create immersive content. However, I am experiencing two problems needing some help please.

    1. my latest post created with snowball does not appear on my static home page.
This is the latest post I have created: https://carrottops.net/snowball/can-style-be-learned/

and the thumbnail of this post does not appear on my home page unlike my other posts created just using the default wordpress post: carrottops.net

    2. Problem two, there seems to be a problem with loading images of the post created with snowball from a mobile device. I normally put a link of my latest post on my instagram account profile, so people can click through. However, with the post created using snowball, when I click on the link through instagram on a mobile device, the images do not load. The images load fine if I click through the link from desktop.

I would love to continue using snowball, however, they are quite big problems for me, so would very much like to receive some help please.

    Thank you.

Hey @cottonsmummy, thanks for trying Snowball out. I’m looking into the issues you described and hope to have a fix for you in the next week. Thanks for your patience!

@cottonsmummy, quick question. I’m trying to replicate your front page on my setup. I installed Total theme and am using Elementor to create the elements like the carousel etc.

How did you create the excerpts with thumbnails for your 9 recent posts? I don’t see an option for it in Elementor. Thanks.

Hello, thank you for looking into this problem. I did not use Elementor to design my static front page. The thumbnails for the blog posts were one of the options which came with the total theme. I just created a page using ‘homepage’ template, then set my homepage as this static page, then customised the layout according to the total theme. They have the instruction here: https://hashthemes.com/documentation/total-documentation/#HomePageSetup
I now suspect the problem is probably associated with the theme, rather than snowball. However, as I am not very techie, I don’t know how to solve that problem.

Unfortunately, after several tries, I had to stop using snowball to push my posts. I can cope with the problem that the posts made with snowball not appearing on my static home page, but one major issue for me is that the post made with snowball cannot be viewed on mobile devices, when it is accessed through a link from facebook or instagram. As, majority of my blog traffic comes from facebook and instagram links, with users access through mobiles, I couldn’t afford to lose the audience.

However, if snowball can be altered, such that it avoids the two problems I have aforementioned, I would love to use it again.

    Thank you,

    BW,

Thanks Jiawei for the additional details. I have a fix to include Snowball articles on the homepage now. It’ll be included in the next update.

However, I haven’t been able to reproduce your second issue yet. I created a test article in Snowball and posted it as a link on Facebook and Instagram profile. When I clicked through, all of the images loaded fine. Are you on iPhone or Android?

Can you publish a test article on your site and post the link here? I’ll post/click your link through my FB/IG to test it on my end.

Can you also try making a private FB post with my test page and see if the images load for you? There should be two images on the post: https://thomaspark.co/snowball/testing/

    Tom
