• For some reason, whenever I load a post in the visual editor, the first thing that happens is that <div></div> tags get added to the bottom of the article, and WordPress saves a new revision. So, now when I try to close the editor window where the post is loaded, my browser warns me “If you navigate away the changes you made will be lost.” Or when I come back to edit this post, WordPress tells me “There is an autosave of this post that is more recent than the version below.” All of which is false—I haven’t made any changes!

Who’s responsible for adding these annoying div tags to the bottom of my articles? It’s annoying! Would be great to know how to fix this.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    hello,
I have the same problem, have you found a solution?
    thank you

It’s a very annoying problem, but it’s hard to debug.

I think I tried to reproduce it on a fresh WordPress install, but couldn’t. However, I wasn’t able to pinpoint the source of the problem after activating plugins and a custom theme.

The way I’m dealing with this issue now is by switching to the HTML editor after finishing the article and saving. That way the divs don’t get added.

can you give me a list or screenshot of your addons to identify the bug ? **************

I’ll just post it here for everyone’s benefit.

I would’ve said it’s a browser extension that’s causing the issue, but I’ve tried in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. The problem occurred in all of them, as far as I can remember.

This is the addon “Google Toolbar Publisher (by Google) 2.0” on Google Chrome, by disabling it I have no problem. Thank you for the help.

Hmmm, I have this add-on actually. I’ll try to disable it and see if this problem continues to occur. Thanks!
