    Hi guys

I’m using the Chrome browser and the latest version of WordPress.

I’m dismayed to find (catches me out EVERY TIME) that the editing navigation keys are no longer correct. Always before the interface has used standard Windows keys (arrow keys one letter/line at a time; CTRL arrow one word/paragraph at a time; backspace deletes a character, CTRL backspace deletes a word).

Now, however, CTRL-Backspace does not work; and nor does CTRL-Del. I use this ALL THE TIME and would be really grateful if it could be reinstated (it even works in this post creation box I’m using right now – just not when creating posts on my blog).

  • @stonelaughter, please don’t bump your thread. It’s against forum rules and is frowned upon.

The ctrl-delete feature you described also doesn’t work in my WordPress installations so it must be a WordPress wide thing.

I rather thought it was rude to leave it unreplied to for two whole weeks with no support… but hey ho. How long is one expected to wait for someone to say “yeah sorry we’re aware of it”, or “we’re not changing that” or whatever?

Patrick is correct, bumping is not allowed.

I rather thought it was rude

This is a volunteer support forum and generally people answer what they can. That’s not rude, people just offer support on what they can.

Replies of “That’s odd, what do you think caused it?” wouldn’t really add value would it? ??

Regarding the original topic, I’ve never tried Ctrl-Del, Ctrl-Backspace, Ctrl-Arrows, etc. in WordPress so I can’t really say if it’s a bug or not.

The bug reporting Codex article is quite a read but if you can read through it, feel free to report it. It may have been reported already.

Thanks for clearing things up Jan. This really isn’t a “bug” just a feature that’s (apparently) gone lost.

@stonelaughter – if you’re really that attached to this feature you describe why not just revert to that version of WordPress? I’m not sure if it’s worth to have a huge discussion about this because it seems very simple to highlight text with a mouse and press delete…?

They’re broken in 3.3 and will be fixed in 3.4, actually. It was a TinyMCE clash and a Webkit bork, which will be fixed with the upgrade.

(Actually it was Webkit that broke, not WP, but y’know how that goes).

    When will 3.4 be out?

Some time in late April hopefully.

I do not think it is rude to bump a post after 2 weeks of no response. There has to be a better choice to describe than “rude.” There has to be thousands of post. The longer it is unattended, it gets buried deep. I guess the bump did what is was intended, got some responses and answered my question about navs going out.

    Okay, how about this.

The moderators actually look at this: https://www.ads-software.com/support/view/no-replies

No replies. If you add a reply we don’t see if there and assume someone’s helped you.

Don’t shoot yourself in the foot. Don’t bump ??
