    Hi,
Just updated the AMP plugin and now I am not able to access the post editor while the plugin is enabled. When I try to add a new post or edit an existing one, it says “The editor has encountered an unexpected error”.

From the three options shown on the screen, I copied the following Error:

TypeError: Object(...) is not a function

    I am using WordPress 5.5.4

Please let me know how to fix this.

    Thx!

  • Thanks for reaching out, hopefully we can assist. Firstly it looks like you’re using v2.0.8, I assume you reverted from v2.1? We did have some reports of conflicts with v2.1 for plugins or themes that has particular AMP functions active. We’ve made changes and since released v2.1.1, can you share whether you tried this version of the plugin also?

If you’ve already attempted using v2.1.1 let’s check if there are any additional conflicts by following the steps below (with v2.1.1 active).

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “AMP”
    4. Attempt to edit a post once more
    5. If the same issue occurs please try to activate a different theme while in troubleshooting mode before checking once more.

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Should the same issue persist please share your Site Health information via this form and we can inspect your current setup. Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

This is a live website with substantial traffic. For now, I have installed version 2.0.9 and things seem to be back to normal.

    Thanks!

@souldesigns Had you updated to 2.1.1? Is that the version in which you saw the error in the post editor?

As opposed to rolling back the AMP plugin version, an alternative workaround would be to turn off AMP Developer Tools in your WordPress user profile. That will prevent the amp-block-validation.js script from being added.

What we need to determine is what plugin conflict is causing that error to occur.

@souldesigns The @wordpress/compose dependency bundled with WordPress v5.5.4 is too old and is missing some required functionalities that the plugin relies on to work.

If you can, updating to WordPress v5.6 or later should resolve your issue.

I was thinking that too, Thanks!

@souldesigns Please confirm if upgrading fixed your issue.

@souldesigns As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!

We’ve also fixed this in v2.1.2 if using older versions of WordPress. However, it will encourage you to upgrade to WP 5.6+.
