Post Excerpt Won’t Update on Home Page Again

    HI, I’ve had this issue before and it somehow seemed to resolve on its own eventually, but not this time… I created a new post and normally the excerpt should appear on the home page but it won’t update. Home page still shows the prior post. I’ve tried republishing the post, republishing the home page and the widget that contains the excerpt, clearing the cache, and deactivating the W3 Total Cache, and still the new post won’t show up. It DOES show up properly when I’m in the Customize mode. I’ve deactivated all the plugins and no change. WP is updated to latest version, the theme is updated to latest version (I used child them). I don’t know what to try next.

  • Hi Valgee,

    this isn’t a theme issue and unfortunately it isn’t really something we can help you with. When you notice a difference between what you see in the Customizer vs. your live site, then it’s a clear indication that this is a caching issue.

    Please keep in mind that your site still may be cached after you’ve disabled your caching plugin (e.g. by your hosting company) and you also may want to clear your browser cache.

    Thank you. I thought it was the cache but couldn’t get it to clear so I wondered if it was something else. But 24 hours later, it cleared. So definitely the cache. Thanks for your quick response. I’ll have to deal with the cache plugin/host to see if I can get it to clear faster.
