Post Excerpts?

Basically, I’m looking for an answer to this question that was closed and never resolved:

It advertises blog post excerpts being supported. But I downloaded the free theme and found no option for excerpts. I figured it must be a pay feature, so I bought the pro version and still can’t find it. Is this possible? If not, it’s kind of a bummer that it’s advertised as being possible.
