I moved my site to a new subfolder and made (what I thought were) the appropriate config changes. The one thing that seems to be broken is the featured image – all other images in the post show up. When I edit the post, I can choose an image from the gallery but as soon as I click update, the image disappears and will not display. I’ve followed the below post to try to fix, but have no errors in the debug log, the DB looks ok and I’m unsure of next steps.

Featured “Image” not saving after update | www.ads-software.com

Could this be a permissions issue? …I’m a novice with WP so any paths or suggestions to chase are appreciated.

Are you able to share the steps you’ve taken for that?

Do you have any URL options visible under Settings -> Media? (Not everyone does)

Does the new URL show correctly under Settings -> General?

In terms of moving the site, I took backups and then copied the entire ‘public_html’ folder into a subfolder ‘public_html/sitename/’ and then created a domain pointer to the subfolder. This is so I can host more than one domain on the same server (one in each subfolder). I also updated the db credentials, come to think if it I may have also updated the db prefix at the same time which now that I mention it, could use some additional verification.

No, just the Image Sizes and Uploading Files sections.

The URL and Site Address did not change because I used a pointer at the domain level. They are both just https://site.com.

Tonight I created a new post and uploaded a new image as part of it, and then assigned it as the featured image and it worked just fine. I also tried assigning the newly uploaded image to an existing post and that worked too… So the problem is isolated to using an existing media image on an existing post. I don’t have that many posts, it may be easier to just delete all the images and re-upload them, but it would be nice to know the cause.
