Post Featured Image not showing in posts

I thought if Featured Images existed they would be shown, especially since they showed up on the blog page list. I’ve been trying to figure out why it was broken.

Then I found the responses at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/post-featured-image-not-showing-in-post-view/. OK, I see that this is planned, not a bug.

I thought that the Image post type was for posts focused on single images. It seems to be a philosophical misuse of that post type.

I just converted from another theme. What to do?

Is that thread saying that I now have to change every post to the “Image” format to get the Featured Image to display on the page?

If so, is there another way? I thought about changing the single.php in a child theme, but after looking at Hueman’s code, that doesn’t look quite so simple. Maybe modify post-formats.php to get the job done?

Any suggestions on how to minimize the amount of labor in converting the site so the Featured Images can be seen again?

The option really should be an “Appearance” option. (IMHO)
