    Hi guys,

I have got a problem with the size of the background image of every new post i create. This is happening since the last update from Hestia 2.1.0 to 2.1.1.

    An example would be this:
    https://www.bergrettung-wattens.at/winteruebung-2019/

The background image for this post should be this one:
    https://www.bergrettung-wattens.at/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/DSC05516.jpg

But in the post itself, a resized image is used:
    https://www.bergrettung-wattens.at/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/DSC05516-150×113.jpg

The whole html looks like this:
    <div class="header-filter" style="background-image: url(https://www.bergrettung-wattens.at/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/DSC05516-150x113.jpg);"></div>

Thats why the image looks blurry. This is happening since about three weeks and only affects new posts. All the older posts use the original background image and not the resized one.

I did a lot of research and troubleshooting but cannot find out how the url is created and why the resized image is used.

I hope you can help me here or at least point me in any direction ??

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi @fox27374,

Thank you for contacting us. I wasn’t able to replicate this. Are you sure this is related to the latest update? If you rollback to the previous version it’s ok?

    Hi,

sorry for my late reply. I did a rollback and the behaviour is the same. So it seems like the Hestia update is not the problem.
Is there anything else I can test? The featured image url always points to the 150x… px image. It does not matter if I upload the image before or during setting the featured image in the post.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Daniel

    Hi,

I did some more tests and deaktivated all the plugins. I found out, that since this year, every time I upload a new image to the media library, an additional, resized image gets created. Here an example of the same picture uploaded in December and in January:

    December 2018:
    Bernina_1.jpg

    January 2019
    Bernina_2.jpg

If I create a new post and set the featured image with a picture uploaded in 2019, the url (in this case) points to Piz_Bernina_rgb_2-150×100.jpg which looks really blurry.

If I choose the picture uploaded in 2018, the url is set correctly to the original, full sized image.

So, why is this additional resized image created and why is it then used as featured image?

    Thanks for any help,
    Daniel

    Hi,

any idea here? I am not sure how I should proceed or how I could find the problem.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
