Post Grid Block – exclude current post (feature request)

Nope, we don’t currently have that in there. It could be something we release one day though. I’ll keep it in mind and add it to my feedback list!

Actually thinking about it again I’m struggling to think of too many scenarios where you wouldn’t want to exclude the current post from a Post Grid. In most cases, it’s essentially a menu, and typically you would at least indicate which option you were on right now.

The post grid can be used in all kinds of scenarios. If you used it on a custom page, a home page, a landing page, etc., there wouldn’t be a current post to exclude. But I can see where there are instances where it does make sense.

I think that was what I was trying to say – for the times when you want to include ALL the post in category you’ll probably be on a page anyway, and there wouldn’t be any harm in trying to execute the exclude argument. If you’re on a post you’re more than likely want to exclude the current post. So from a design point of view you might just as well exclude the current post as default. Its an opinion anyway!

For time being I’ve just added ‘exclude’ => get_the_id() to the array when you set up get_recent_posts, and I’ll just have to remember to replace it if / when you upgrade the plugin!

Thanks for expanding on your thoughts, that helps me understand your request a bit more. I’ll keep this in mind as we move forward with updates!
