Post Hardening Malfunction: Pages don't show in navigation

    Hello,

    After having my WP site hardened against hackers/malware etc.,my page creation functionality no longer works. For example, when I create a new page, I check the box “show in menu.” Nothing shows up in the menu; it’s as if something has been written into the code to disallow any new page links in the main navigation menu (the page is available only if I type in the url). There have been other functional quirks, but this one is pertinent at the moment.

    Does anyone know where I can find this part of the source code, and is anyone willing to look at it if I can copy and paste it here?

    What exactly was changed on the site?

    I don’t know exactly. I know that they moved/hid the htaccess file ( I can’t even find it). Vulnerable files were renamed. There are a few plugins being used also (securiscanner and Better WP Security).

    Not really. You’d need to get back to whoever did the work for you and ask them to reverse all of their changes.
