• Hi,
My blog londonnewgirl.com has been having issues with images lately and now it’s at the point where I can’t publish any posts as half the images are not posting!

When I compose the post using the dashboard, everything works well, but when I go to preview the post then about 70% of images don’t show up, in their place is an outline of where the image should be, with a little blue box and question mark inside it.

Have tried different browsers, different computers, reinserting the images, making the files smaller, nothing is working!

I made a change to an old post and now that image isn’t loading either – e.g. https://www.londonnewgirl.com/keeping-fit-in-london-on-a-budget/

When I try sharing a post on my Facebook page (any post, including old ones where the images load up fine), no image loads in the link preview, so I’m not sure if this is all related.

Is anyone having the same issue or can anyone help please? This is driving me nuts!

Hi kamilika, I’m wondering if this is a problem with your host server’s response time or your site’s performance.

It looks like your theme uses Photon (part of the Jetpack plugin). “Photon is an image acceleration and editing service.” Under Limitations, it says: “If your server takes longer than 10 seconds to upload the image to Photon, the upload will time out and your image will appear to be broken.” That appears to be the problem you’re having.

You may want to have a look at this support thread: s1.wp.com slowing one, but not all, sites. Deactivating the Photon module may temporarily help, but you may want to try some things to optimize the performance of your site. Your site is loading a lot of JavaScript.

For performance optimization, you can try the W3 Total Cache plugin or the WP Super Cache plugin. You may also want to have a look at this thread: Performance optimization for Jetpack.

It’s always a good idea to make sure your site – files and database – are backed up before making any changes.
