Post introduction, body on new page

  • Hello, I like WP plenty, but I can’t figure out how to configure it so that what shows up in the index is a summary with a “MORE” link that goes to a page that has the full post and comments. I could make the rest of the post as a comment and change the comment button to a “more” button, but this would leave me without a comment button, and it’s a non-optimal solution.
    Here’s what I want,
    Greek
    —Grod @ 10:10 pm
    “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Maecenas scelerisque. Etiam tristique augue a mauris. Sed eu sapien at urna porttitor vestibulum. Nam massa….” MORE
    Then, when the reader clicks more, they get a page with the full text of the entry and the comments button at the end.
    Can it be done?

    However, I’d like to know how to prevent the comment area from appearing at the bottom of each page when I use <!–nextpage–>. I’d like to have the comments reside on their own page with just the summary post at the top. Thanks.

    Uncomment a line in index.php (look in the source of index.php to see which one to uncomment) to get the comments to open in a popup window all by itself.

    Yes, I did that. But when I use the <!–nextpage–> tag in my posts, the next pages all fall back to same page comments.

    Ah damn, I just realized that I need to use char codes here. OK, the first post should read “when I use <!–more–>” and the other one should read when I use the <!–nextpage–>

    arrrrgh! OK, 1st one: less then exlamation mark dash dash more dash dash greater than
    2nd one: substitute nextpage for more
