Post migration issues galore

    The Migrate Guru plugin does indeed work. Once you correctly set it up and get the path and other options correct it will migrate your site. However, there was a lot of post migration issues which made the site nearly unusable:

    1. I could not install plugins from WordPress. There were errors downloading the plugins. I had to download them to my PC, unzip them and them FTP them over. Once there I could activate them.

    2. I could not upload a theme and install it. Again, I could unzip it on my PC and FTP it over then activate it. Kind of a pain.

    3. I could not update plugins. This morning there were two plugins that had updates and when I tried to update them they would not. The following error appeared for each: “An error occurred while updating Page Builder by SiteOrigin: The package could not be installed. The package contains no files.”

    I would say that while this plugin appears to work once you get the options correctly that it is not worth much given that it will not allow you to operate your site correctly.

    While migrating a site we carry forward as much of the source site
    configuration as possible. In the case of your original site, there
    were the following lines present in the configuration file.

    define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’)
    define(‘FS_CHMOD_DIR’, 705)
    define(‘FS_CHMOD_FILE’, 604)

    These lines caused the file permissions of the system to become
    incompatible with your new host. This led to the errors you saw. If
    you can migrate the site again, we can assist you in removing these
    lines.
