• When I create a post notification and schedule it to send after a new blog is posted, it instead sends the notifications immediately. I’ve used Mail Poet for a couple of years with no problems until recently. How can I correct the issue?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi there @nlucenay,

With Post Notifications, they can either be set to send “Immediately”, or on a schedule — daily at a given time, weekly on a given day, monthly on a given day, etc:

    frequency

From your description, it sounds like your Post Notification may be set to “Immediately” at the moment. Please double check the frequency setting for your email.

If you are still having issues, please send over screenshots of the frequency setting of the email, and how it’s displaying under MailPoet > Emails > Post Notifications. I recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in your reply here.

    Thank you!

    Thank you, @kellymetal,

As you can see, my post notifications are set to send immediately after publishing a post: https://snipboard.io/8eDnCl.jpg
I’ve also discovered that not everyone is receiving notifications.

I appreciate your help. Thanks so much.

    Hi there @nlucenay,

As you can see, my post notifications are set to send immediately after publishing a post: https://snipboard.io/8eDnCl.jpg

Thank you for confirming that. So in that case, that would be why it’s sending the notifications immediately.

In your initial message, you mentioned that you scheduled the post notification but “it instead sends the notifications immediately”. Had you not wanted it to send immediately? If so, you would need to change that frequency setting from your screenshot to something different.

I’ve also discovered that not everyone is receiving notifications.

I see that you have not yet set up domain authentication for your nancylucenay.com domain. Setting that up will help improve deliverability. We have a guide for that here:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/328-set-up-dkim-for-your-sender-domain

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you @kellymetal.

The problems I’ve had with Mail Poet sending post notifications have come when I haven’t published a new post. Since I have it set to “send immediately after publishing a post,” I don’t understand why it sent them when no new post was published.

What frequency should I choose to send the notifications immediately after I publish a new post? I also modify each one to reflect the subject of the post. How can I do that without intiating an immediate send?

I’ve contacted BlueHost support. This is what he said: “I have Checked with all the DSN records and I have corrected the records I request you to wait for an Propagation time for 4 hours and the issue will be resolved.” I hope that resolves the domain authentication issue.

Nevertheless, why would some on my subscriber list receive my newsletter but not the post notifications?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi there @nlucenay,

From your description, it sounds like perhaps you are creating a new Post Notification email in MailPoet each time — is that correct?

With a Post Notification type email, you would only need to create it once, and as long as it’s Active, then it would automatically send moving forward. In other words, between these two MailPoet email types:
Post Notification: create once, and it will automatically send out new posts based on your settings.
Newsletter: create each time you want to send it (or schedule it for a future date to send once)

Please read over these two pages regarding Post Notifications for additional information:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/347-create-a-post-notification-email
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/238-faq-post-notifications

If you were creating a new Post Notification email each time, then it would immediately send once you activate it.

Regarding the subject of the email / post, you can use a shortcode to automatically have the post title used in the email subject:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/215-personalize-newsletter-with-shortcodes

As for the DNS records, I see that they still have not propagated yet at this point:
    https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/_mailpoet.nancylucenay.com
    https://www.whatsmydns.net/#CNAME/mailpoet2._domainkey.nancylucenay.com
    https://www.whatsmydns.net/#CNAME/mailpoet1._domainkey.nancylucenay.com

Once those are showing up as valid (green checkmarks instead of red X’s), check your MailPoet.com dashboard again to see if your domain is showing as verified:
    https://account.mailpoet.com/sender_domains

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Thank you, @kellymetal. Yes, you’re correct. I was creating a new post notification email every time I sent a new post. I’ll send newsletters instead since I want to change my opening comments each time.

I contacted Bluehost.com again. They checked my DNS records and said they’ve propagated. https://dnschecker.org/#A/nancylucenay.com

Does that mean everyone on my subscriber list will now receive the emails?

2 subscribers have reported additional problems:

    1. Images didn’t show in email
    2. Newsletter didn’t include post

Any ideas why they might have had those issues?

Thanks so much for your help.

Le’s take a look at the first one for now. Can you take a look at this guide to some of the common issues with this? https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/370-images-not-displayed-in-emails

Thank you, @slash1andy. I wrote something similar to the woman who couldn’t see the images but haven’t heard back from her.

Do have you a suggestion for the 2nd issue?

    Thanks for your help.

Can you share a bit more about the issue there?

Does the shortcode just not render (still shows the shortcode), or something different?

Newsletter images don’t show on iPhones or iPads but do on computers. I see a square with a question mark in the middle and the alt text when I hover my mouse over it. Can you please help me figure out how to fix this?

    Hey again @nlucenay !

It looks like the main issues are with how Apple Mail handles images.

Here’s a section to how this specifically works, and how to set them up properly: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/370-images-not-displayed-in-emails#apple-privacy-settings

    Thread Starter nlucenay

    (@nlucenay)

Thank you, @slash1andy. The issue seems to be on iPhones, iPads, and Apple Mail. I’ve talked to Apple, and they can’t find a problem with the mail. The only images I can’t load come from Mail Poet on my website. What do you recommend I do next?

    Thread Starter nlucenay

    (@nlucenay)

    Dear @slash1andy

The images from my newsletters aren’t showing in Apple Mail, regardless of the device used. Rather than the image, I see a box with a question mark in the middle and the Alt Text for the image at the top. I’ve talked to Apple, and they find no problem on the Apple side. Images from other emails (e.g. Estée Lauder) load with no problem. Can you please help me?

    Thanks so much!

    Nancy
