Hi… I’ve contacted support at my hosting provider, but while I wait for the glacially slow response, I thought I would check here and see if any of you bright young things knew what I could do to fix this situation.

My hosting company moved all their sites to a new server or platform (I’m not sure what the proper word is – the change seems to be that we went from vDeck 1.0 to vDeck 3.0) and mine was moved this week.

If you go to my blog, you will see that my posts are out of order. They seem to be displaying earliest first (when latest first should be the order), but even then, the “home” page is not displaying the very first posts I made.

I have an inkling that this is a database problem, but I’m not really sure how I would go about fixing it – I was hoping tech support would be able to, but their ticket system seems to have been overhauled for the worse as well and I’m not getting any responses.

The worst part is, I was already considering taking down a lot of those old posts because I am an extremely different person now and didn’t want some of those old problems still up there. Now, they are the first thing anyone sees! I really hope someone can help me!

    Thanks!

  • this is a mysql issue. The solution is to either have your host upgrade their version of mysql to something beyond 5.0.51 (i believe thats the version thats buggy) OR to upgrade your WordPress.

Hi Whooami, thanks so much for the reply.

My host is using MySQL 5.0.45, would that cause problems?

If I upgrade my WordPress, will that actually solve the post order problem? Is there anything I should do during the backup process to help make sure the posts are re-ordered properly?

Thanks so much for your help!

    Assuming its caused by this,

    yes.

    Nope.

That link was the key, Whooami. Thanks. I found my problem down the replies a little bit… a guy on IPower (my host as well) who had the exact same problem that I have, whose site is now no longer at the link he provided. I’m assuming an upgrade isn’t going to help because it’s not WP’s problem, it’s my host’s problem.

So I’m thinking I should just start with a new, up-to-date install of WP on a new host. If I can make a backup of my MySQL database with my WP posts in it, would I be able to put it into the new WordPress install?

its a mysql issue — however upgrading to 2.5.1 will fix it. I just went through this on a site that uses FreeeBSD 6.2 and ports, which is still, for some reason, way behind on MySQL.

Whooami, thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately for me, it looks like IPower is basically a sinking ship – my site and three others I maintain with them are all down and were experiencing problems beforehand.

So once I get everything backed up, I’ll find a new host and do a fresh install of the latest WP there. If I can be sure there is no redirect exploit in it like I’ve been reading today, that is!

    Thanks again.
