Post Permalinks Break Shop Layout

To confirm, you changed that on Settings > Permalink, right? Or did you change it with code?

Can you confirm which option you choose for the WooCommerce permalinks?

I just switched on my website and I was not able to replicate the issue on my end.

Since the product is not launched yet, can you please run a conflict test to see if something external is interfering with this?

To test, you’ll first want to change the theme on your site to Storefront, then check to see if the issue is still present. If that resolves the issue, you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s developer and see if they have an update or fix for you.

If changing the theme doesn’t help, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and Elementor and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

If it still persists, you need to check if Elementor is the issue, so please also disable it and check how the site looks. Then switch to “post” and see if it changes.

— Be sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database. You can ask your host for backup functionality or you can consider using a service like Jetpack. If something goes wrong, you will be able to restore it.

Thanks for getting back to me! Sorry for my own delay, I was a bit busy at the time.

Yes, I had changed the permalinks through settings and not code. I’m not sure if the dev added any code that may be interfering with that, but I’m trying to get in touch.

Here is a screenshot of the woocommerce specific permalink settings. Apologies if this isn’t what you meant, but it’s the only thing I can find.

Per your instructions, I also disabled all plugins, first everything but elementor and woocommerce, then elementor as well. When Elementor is disabled, the text for the filter options reappear, but the shop is nonfunctional. I didn’t see anything notable when in post view. Obviously the look of the post reflected that Elementor is no longer active, but I don’t know what else I would be looking for.

Changing the theme doesn’t bring back any of the functionality in the shop page.

Hope this maybe paints a clearer picture!

The site not being very functional without Elementor is expected (that’s why I first asked you to not disable it, as it would be hard to confirm without it).
But the text for filter options reappearing once you disable it makes me believe that there might be a conflict with Elementor.

But let’s dig a little further before checking it with Elementor’s support, okay?

Can you please share the System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support, so we can take a look?

Can you also please go to Tools > Site health and see if there are any problems showing there?

Please share the Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.

Site health does cite a few issues but I’m not sure they’re related. The first two are known issues from when I tried to install Jetpack to do a backup and it just would not connect to my account. I’m not concerned with it since my host provides a backup service that I already used before we started, as per your recommendation.

The missing module is ‘imagick’, which I believe the dev had initially installed for image compression before opting for something else. But I could be misremembering.

Thank you for all the information!

I agree that the site health report does not seem to be related to the issue.

The fatal errors also do not seem to be related to this, although it is strange that they mention auxin-elements plugin, and I did not find a plugin with this name on the report. So not sure which plugin is causing the fatal errors.

One thing I noticed on the report, that is also probably not related, but it is important to fix, is that the database is outdated. This can cause a lot of issues on the website.

Please update it by either following the warning message a the top of the page on WooCommerce area of the dashboard or going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools > Update Database.

Please be sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database.

Next steps would be:

• On the page with the broken layout, open the browser console and see if there are any errors there. If there is, please share them with us so we can take a look.
• Reach out to your host and make sure the server is configured to allow .htaccess overrides and that your .htaccess file in the root directory of your WordPress installation has the correct rewrite rules
• Check with Elementor’s support so they can take a look at the website with Elementor active and see if their plugin is working as expected
